Now that you have finished writing your new ebook, there comes the task of managing its financial future and how best to increase your return on the investment of time you have spent researching and writing it. While one’s first impulse may be to just launch it and see what happens, there are a number of creative ways to utilize the information you have compiles to increase your profits.
On your own, you could edit a shortened version of your book which, while still offering some of the useful knowledge, could be given away as an enticement to buy the full version. You will want to give them enough to convince them how much better the whole story will be. Alternately, one could break the chapters down into short “reports” that explain what it is you have to offer in the complete work. This could be done by offering a carefully chosen sample chapter or pages. Another variation on this theme would be to recreate your book into a newsletter format and charge a subscription fee for the information. Offering regular updates to the work is another good way to publicize and promote your ebook.
Bundling your ebook with extra free offers will make it a more valuable purchase for your readers. Either find ebooks with similar topics or offer coupons to other products you may have. If you have an ebook product that links to affiliate sites that may profit you as well, then offering Master Resale Rights to your book can make it more attractive to those who are needing a product to sell. While your initial profits may not be as much, you are more likely to gain on the backend and the extra exposure from other people’s promotion of your book will spread it much further than you could do alone.
Joint Venture partnerships with other ebook authors can gain you extra exposure as well. Even if you are offering your book to a select market for “free”, the contacts you gain by this method gives you a ready market to pitch your next ebook creation to.
Depending on the nature of your ebook, you may be able to take the basic core and rework it to fit various niche markets. If your topic is something like Business Marketing, you can alter it to Retail, Wholesale or pecific niche Business Marketing. Not only could this method create an entire “series” of books, it positions you as an expert in a multitude of fields.
While ebooks are a digital format and especially designed for computer use, there are those who would prefer a hard copy to read at their leisure. You could offer the option of purchasing an already printed out and bound copy of your book in addition to the digital version. The small extra cost of a simple binder, cover and shipping would be included in the price of this hands-on copy of your literary creation.
Be creative with your ebook promotions. Sometimes a novel marketing approach will interest prospective buyers more than the sales pitch you use to promote it.
