Many people get stuck while writing their ebooks. This can happen for many reasons, but the one I see the most with my students is when they stop to edit and analyze what they have written. It is best to just keep writing and let the words and ideas flow. Here are the steps to take as your writing goes from idea to ebook.

  • Allow yourself to just keep writing. This is referred to as a brain dump. Get all of your ideas out on the paper or the computer. Do not worry about it making sense at this point.
  • Give yourself a day to relax after you have done this. It can be both emotionally and physically draining to write everything that is inside of you. This type of writing can release many fears and obstacles that have kept you from writing in the past.
  • When you look at what you have written later on, start to put it in order and make sense of what message you are attempting to convey to your readers. See what comes through as you read what you wrote.
  • Begin to develop an outline. You will use this outline throughout the time you are writing your book or ebook. Pick out the main ideas that you want to write about in more detail. Each main idea will become a chapter in your ebook.
  • Choose one of these ideas and write down everything you would want to include under that heading. Later on you will fill in even more details as you focus on that chapter.
  • Again, step away from your writing for a day or two. Keep a notebook with you at all times to capture your new ideas while you are not actively writing. When you get back to writing your ebook, the ideas will flow even more easily.

Writing with the help of a mentor will make this process flow even more readily.
